Ghost in the Shell

Pen and marker on paper. Focusing on human desire; in particular, the human figure as a subject matter, it is a recurring theme within the work and is related to my exploration of life and death. Believing human desire begins with libido and develops to reveal a unique translation. There is a subconscious underlying when people expose different types of their desire.

Minju Kim is an artist that has truly creates from her experience. Suffering from a rare body condition Kim from a young age Kim had a lot of first hand experience with doctors’ medical examinations being a big part of her everyday life. This strange and sterile environment would become the incubation for Minju’s Artistic creation. Her work is created painstakingly all the works are made by hand taking days to complete. Her work while most of the time bright and colourful is made up of natural spaces and curves. While deeply colourful and so with what would normally be happy colours the work gives off a venerable sadness. The skill Minju displays is years ahead of her age.
