Utilizing both moving images and sound in the digital space, my work demonstrates how life extends beyond its own subjective limits, often commenting on our society and the effects of cultural globalization over the latter half of the twentieth century.

Working from a visceral place, with influences as diverse as mainstream media and the natural world, my work is crafted into new combinations of both constructed and discovered dialogues. This process is marked by the common consumption of cultures that have been diffused by the Internet, popular culture, and media, as well as international travel.

Referencing post-colonial theory as well as the avant-garde or the post-modern movement as a form of resistance against the despotic capitalist system, my work is an investigation of popular themes such as sexuality, nature as beauty and non-conformity. I touch on various overlapping themes and strategies, such as the relation with popular culture and media, working with repetition, provocation and the investigation of the process of expectations.

While exploring the concept of movement and how it relates to sound, I make works that deals with the documentation of events and the question of how they can be presented. This is expressed by looking both externally and from within, challenging the binaries we continually reconstruct between Self and Other.

With Plato’s allegory of the cave in mind, I am continually fascinated by the endless oscillation of the human condition. By isolating the movements of humans and/or objects while detaching these images and sound from their natural function, new contexts are created which reveal an inseparable relationship between the two. Categories are subtly reversed, and the viewer is left with an insight into the possibilities of our era.
